Description
The Sacramento Plant Environmental Manager delivers results and
capability in the environmental area. These are critical to sustainable
operation of the plant, which runs at capacity on a 24/7 basis. This
person is also the DOT coordinator.
The Sacramento Plant is one of two stand alone chemical plants in North
America within Procter & Gamble, and is the largest producer of fatty
alcohols in the company. As such, it is a key component in the supply
chains for many P&G products.
The first responsibility is to deliver business results. This includes
maintaining compliance with all environmental and DOT regulations,
permit conditions, and reporting requirements. In addition, the Plant
Environmental Manager is responsible for building the organizational and
process capability to operate within today's limits while preparing for
tomorrow's. Finally, the Plant Environmental Manager plays a lead role
in permitting for new capital initiatives and maintaining strong
relationships with numerous agencies that regulate the plant.
Understanding of and experience with key environmental regulations that
impact the plant. These include Title V air permit, compliance with the
MON-MACT, DOT shipping requirements, NPDES, CWA, SARA, RCRA, TSCA, etc.
Successful plant level experience developing capability in operational
technicians to deliver results.
Experience managing agency interactions. This includes input to rule
development, inspections, source testing, and interpretation of
regulations.
Familiarity and experience with test methods and protocols for air and
water source testing. Experience managing contractors who execute this
work.
The Sacramento Plant operates on a 24/7 basis. Although the role is a
normal M-F day shift schedule, the demands of the job are such that work
outside of these hours in not uncommon.
Qualifications
Strong engineering background with extensive plant-level experience in
process operations. A degree in Chemical Engineering is strongly
preferred. A degree in Environmental Engineering or other engineering
field with an Environmental specialization will also be acceptable.
This role requires some travel, particularly to locations handling
off-site disposal of plant generated waste streams. Training and
recertification in various programs as well as participation in the
company environmental network also involves travel.
