Alcoa, Inc. (www.alcoa.com) has an immediate opening for a Tooling
Engineer at its Pimalco Operations in Chandler, AZ. Pimalco is a short
press, hard alloy extrusions plant primarily focused on the Aerospace
industry.
The Tooling Engineer will report to Engineering and is accountable for:
• Designing and developing cost effective and reliable equipment (i.e.
dies, press tooling, stretcher, stretch form, gages, etc.) while
monitoring and continuously improving tooling performance.
• The performance of tooling, including design dies and reviewing
designs to optimize performance.
• Responding to customer and sales request for products, new product
implementation, defining product manufacturing capability, determining
tooling cost, and resolving customer quality issues.
• Contributing to updating technical standards and guidelines,
initiating, monitoring, and updating repair and maintenance
recommendations, equipment supply sources, and performance/cost date
extrusion processes, equipment, and tooling.
• Knowledge sharing and providing technical counsel on extrusion and
tooling technology and procedural direction to the Tool and Die
Correctors.
Basic Qualifications
• Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar field
• 7-10 years of tooling design experience
Preferred Qualifications • Leadership skills including communication,
change management and team building
• Problem-solving and root cause analysis skills
• The ability to understand and apply state-of-the-art extrusion process
knowledge and equipment technology.
